These details apply to both Castle Park Theatre in Colchester and The Hay Wain in Ipswich unless otherwise stated.
What are the opening times?
Gates open an hour before each performance. Evening shows start at 7.30pm and finish at approximately 9.30pm, while matinees start at 3.30pm.
What if it rains?
Performances will only be cancelled in extreme weather. In the event of cancellation, ticket holders will be moved to another performance later in the run. There may be pauses during the performance to allow for rain showers.
What shall I bring?
Audience members are advised to bring chairs, a warm coat and blankets. Picnics are allowed. Outdoor spaces may be uneven in places, so appropriate footwear is recommended.
Can I get a drink?
A bar will be open, serving drinks and light refreshments before the show and during the interval.
Is the theatre accessible for disabled audience members?
Because of the nature of the outdoor spaces, the ground is wheelchair-accessible, and a disabled toilet is available. At present, we do not offer audio-described or captioned performances, but we plan to introduce these in future years.

Where are you located?
We are situated in the Lower Bowls Green in Lower Castle Park. The closest entrance or gate is on the Leisure World side of the park.
Is there parking nearby?
The easiest place to park to access the theatre is the Leisure World Car Park – MIPermit (737941). It costs £2.50 after 6pm.

Before the show, audiences can access the theatre from across the park. After evening performances, audiences must exit via either the Leisure World Gate or the Weir Gate (closest to the city centre), as the rest of the park will be closed.

There is no parking at Christchurch Mansion itself. The closest car parks are William Street and the Regent Theatre car park.

Christchurch Mansion is approximately ten minutes’ walk from Ipswich Museum, around twenty minutes from the railway station and five minutes from Tower Ramparts bus station in the town centre.
